In this exhibition, Ruth is presenting several series: “Self Impression” where an impression of herself is combined with the seasons, and the follow-on variations where the shapes and textures of each season are investigated. Currently focusing on screenprinting and linocut, Ruth enjoys using multiple processes to create a layered image.

Gwenyth Wheeler – 8th July to 1st August 2008

Mystery and Imagination

Gwenyth has always had an interest in art and in her early days worked with metal and pottery as well as painting while training as a teacher. During her teaching career there was little free time to pursue her interest apart from visiting exhibitions both here and in Europe. However, once retired she returned to her pursuits and attended various adult evening institute classes studying watercolour. More recently she saw a demonstration by an encaustic wax artist and it is this medium she has explored in the paintings for this exhibition.

Pat Tucker (née Madden) was born and educated in London. Her art training began in the Swindon School of Art where she obtained her National diploma in oil Painting: following this she studied for the Art Teaching Diploma at the Royal West of England College of Art in Bristol.

This is the second solo exhibition for Jenny Phillips, who will be graduating with a B.A. in Fine Art in June. Jenny paints in a time when photoshop, video art, and performance art are in fashion. She considers that painting is not dead, and her love for painting drives her work, which is concerned with reality in the post modern world.

Jo trained in Textile design at the Central School of Art and Design and began teaching shortly after.

A country girl at heart Jo loves the outdoors and being creative, her colourful works are influenced by the garden and pattern. She regularly works in textiles, embroidery and mosaics but mainly paints in acrylics and enjoys collage, pen and ink, pencil and watercolour.
