Sue Blandford -Magic in the Everyday

Sue is interested in poetic juxtapositions of objects, which are imbued with both their practical uses and their symbolic evocation. The magic in the seemingly mundane or everyday. Her concern lies with paradoxes of light and dark, peace and unease, also relationships between manmade objects or interventions in natural situations.
Jacek Krzysik Still lives and oils

For Polish born artist, Jacek Krzysik, the process of creation takes several days to transform ideas into painting. Each work evolves in a slow and gradual process to capture every moment, nuance and detail in the painting. This exhibition shows a culmination of that process and emerges into a rich and vibrant display.

Born in Mallorca (Spain) Catina studied painting at the Fine Arts Academy of Palma de Mallorca. She later left her island to travel the world. In Paris, she had the chance to develop her artistic career learning new techniques while working and continuing to travel. Among others, she travelled to Lebanon, Egypt, Arabia, and Mexico, where she stayed a few years. Through all her travels and experiences she has become a self-taught artist.”

Wood Engravings by Sue Scullard

Sue was introduced to wood engraving on endgrain boxwood at the Royal College of Art 28 years ago, and since then she has been making prints for illustration commissions and for exhibition. The small size and close grain of the woodblocks, with the fine lines made possible by the sharp engraving tools, lend themselves to detailed work. Inspirations include decorative subjects, landscape, gardens, animals, and architecture, and she is fascinated by subjects which give her the opportunity to explore the textures and patterns which can be made with the various engraving tools.

A CANTER THRU’ THE COUNTRYSIDE

I will be exhibiting my detailed, tonal equestrian drawings alongside floral and rural paintings in diverse media. Some of the pieces in this exhibition have been inspired by recent riding expeditions in Argentina and Chile. Preparing for this exhibition has challenged me to further explore and develop my work, narrowing the gap between my detailed drawings and the loose brush strokes that I use when painting sets for the local theatrical company.
