‘Earl’
Artist: Collin Earl
30th October to 23rd November 2007
Open evening 30th October 7-9pm
EARL, national cartoonist for over 50 years, realised at the age of 10 he wanted to be a cartoonist and from then has never stopped cartooning and painting.
After pestering his local paper every week for over a year he was taken on as an apprentice cartoonist, from that time on he has never looked back.
He arrived in London in 1953 and proceeded to break into the national newspapers and leading magazines. By 1970 his work was appearing all over the world, America, South Africa, Australia, the Middle East to name but a few.
In 1995 after major spinal surgery he decided to take it a little easier and started painting seriously. This exhibition shows how cleverly he has combined his love of cartooning with his love of painting.
He has now on www.cartoonworld.org recently started giving help and advice to young would-be-cartoonists
