Roger Lewis, Tutor, Artist and Illustrator who teaches at this centre, has received the Annie Longley Award for Excellence at the Pastel Society and has recently been elected President of the Society of Graphic Fine Art, founded in 1919.

This local group of artists make a welcome return with a mixed selection of subject matter and media, including pottery and ceramics.
Jo Doctor - Garden Colour

6th June to 4th July 2008



Jo Doctor trained as a textile designer but has spent most of her career teaching art and painting. Her work is influenced by her love of nature and her garden. Mostly in acrylic the works feature flowers, fruit and vegetables; traditional but with a modern twist.

Pat Tucker - Architecture: Land and Sea

Renowned local artist and previous art tutor uses watercolour as her medium to produce this pleasing and accomplished display of architectural land and seascapes.

Gwenyth Wheeler - Mystery and Imagination

Gwenyth is an encaustic artist producing original, one-off pieces of artwork. She finds wax a perfect medium for creative exploration, experimentation and even doodles. The rich colours and textures provide an enduring fascination enabling her to produce stunning abstract designs and landscapes with elements of both mysticism and realism.

Fine Art graduate Jenny Phillips returns for her second exhibition. Using an Expressionistic style she explores the female form, drawing upon news, media and contemporary life.

Garden Party exhibition and The SUMMER EXHIBITION

Affiliated art societies and individuals display their artwork in two rooms. This show will also extend throughout the Garden Party period. Watercolours, pastels, oils, acrylics, textiles, ceramics and pottery combine in this exciting and stimulating show.

Letitia is a printmaker producing original, one off pieces of artwork.
This exhibition explores her interest in texture and textiles by printing using the collagraph and monoprint techniques. Often embellishing and moulding the work to create three dimensional pieces.

Cliff Orsi: What Will You See?

Operating under the generic title "The Art of Abstraction", Cliff's work is dedicated to colour and form. Owing nothing to external sources, each painting is left open to interpretation. As such, his work has as many meanings as there are viewers. So, what will YOU see?
