Cecilia Glencross – Art for
Feeling Good
31st May to 24th June 2005
Cecilia was born in Stockholm, Sweden. She trained for three years
in design crafts and haute couture dressmaking, creating one-off
garments that were sold in boutiques in the old part of Stockholm.
She spent her summers on an island surrounded by the Baltic Sea
and drew much of her inspiration from the natural colours, textures
and shapes that she found there.
Cecilia used only natural fibres – silk and wool –
and selected the raw wool at source, spinning, dying and weaving
it by hand. She painted and embroidered on silk and used appliqué
and beads. Each garment was exclusive and unique, and was approached
like a work of art. She often cut material on the bias to produce
the flowing and moving lines that are now so characteristic of her
style as an artist.
Cecilia has been interested in healing and the holistic approach
to health for many years. She uses her painting to channel healing.
It allows her to give full expression to her feelings and is a way
of coming to terms with life – stress, grief, pain or joy.
It has helped her to find inner stillness and peace. Her aim is
that her journey to healing through painting will help others to
empower themselves.
