Parris and Purr Fine Arts
1st April –25th April 2003
John Parris:
John
Parris has been painting for fifteen years. As an artist he is mainly
self-taught and draws influences from Victorian painters who specialised
in marine subjects.
Apart from his affiliation to reputable local art groups such as West
Wickham Arts Association and Bromley Arts Society, he is a valued member
of the Cantium Group, which consists of several professional artists.
John has exhibited successfully many times with Richard Purr, in Bromley
and the South East of England, and he also runs a small tutoring group,
teaching oil painting.
Richard Purr:
Richard
has been drawing and painting since 1983. Like John, he is also largely
self-taught and has membership to the prestigious Cantium group, as well
as local art groups in Orpington, Knockholt, Westerham and West Wickham
Arts Association, where he holds position of Honorary Secretary.
He exhibits regularly in galleries in Kent and throughout the South East
and more locally, in the Bromley borough and with the Sutton and Croydon
art groups.
Richard also teaches painting, both at his home one afternoon each week
and in the evenings at the Adult Education Centre in Orpington.
Although Richard works mostly in watercolour and occasionally oils, his
drawings are skilfully executed and show a great attention to detail.
Both John and Richard’s works are traditional in style and professional
in execution. This pleasing and competent collection of landscape and
marine subjects in watercolour and oil are available to purchase –
and just to view.
Please come along to the open evening or ring the Arts Centre on 0208
464 5816 for other opening hours. |
