On Choosing Excellence
A photographic exhibition by Sezgin Kemal
Jan 4th to February 1st 2007
Open evening 4th Jan 7.30 to 9.30pm
Sezgin Kemal, Head of English at Newstead Wood School, has enjoyed
the creative part of her work as well as the successful academic.
Her ‘Writer in residence’ programme, running for over
16 years, has established the school as a forerunner in examining
creative processes: she enjoys mind mapping, brain storming, visualization
and working with imagery.
In her collage work, displayed at Ripley, she used the psychologist’s
eye for exploring visualization in direction setting. ‘Streams
Of Consciousness’ for example will capture a moment of reality
crystallizing it to hard copy. ‘Nostalgia’ looks back
to a 1950’s rural England and ‘Philosophy’ again
suggests the distinctive threads marking the intellect.
Sezgin’s collaboration with David Wood, the photographer and
member of the Royal Society of Photographers, marks a rich and positive
initiation into new territories of image and meaning.
