10th - 27th June 2003

The Globe TheatreTo commemorate the bi-centenary of Wordsworth’s sonnet Composed Upon Westminster Bridge Shakespeare’s Globe and The Wordsworth Trust has published a collection of poems entitled ‘Earth has not anything to shew more fair’. This brilliant collection edited by Peter and Alice Oswald contains the best of contemporary writers who have composed their own sonnets on the theme of Bridges.

Schools were invited to participate in the project and have produced their own body of work: sonnets, poets in residence and Globe specialists visiting selected schools for in-house work-shops. The students sonnets will be published eventually on the Globe’s website.

The TempestNewstead Wood’s exhibition of sonnets will be on display at Ripley Arts Centre from 10th –27th June and is the summit of the school’s activities over the year.
