Grants and Guarantees for Amateur Arts Societies

The Arts Council invites amateur arts societies based in the London Borough of Bromley to apply for a grant or guarantee against loss for activities.

The Arts Council itself has received a grant from the Borough Council, part of which is allocated to this purpose. The Arts Council defines activity in the arts in a very broad way and wishes to encourage emerging new societies, and those imaginatively attempting to widen their appeal to potential new members, to apply for support.

The total sum allocated is not large, and any society receiving funding can expect no more than a very modest amount - the average sum provided in recent years has been about £300. Societies awarded funding will be required to become affiliated members of the Arts Council (the annual subscription is currently only £10). Affiliated members receive a number of important benefits whether or not they receive financial aid from the Grants and Guarantees Fund, including but not limited to publicity opportunities and preferential charges for hiring of the meeting and concert rooms at the Ripley Arts Centre.
