Alex Hooton: “Animal Instincts”
1st May to 22nd June 2012
Two Open evenings 2nd May & 30th May 7 to 9pm

“As an equestrian artist I aim to capture the beauty, power, grace and movement of horses and other animals. Nearly all my work has a defined focus without background. In the manner of a portrait I seek to show the essential individuality and character of the subject without “humanising” them.” Alexander Hooton

A new series of paintings by Geoffrey Leeson
3rd April to 27th April Open eve 4th April 7-9pm

I have been exploring the possibility that non-representational painting can express profound emotion. By developing a visual language of painterly motifs, squares, circles, and lines, my colour saturated canvases have intense colour bursts that evoke dramatic landscapes but remain resolutely abstract. They distil the colour, light and forms of nature into visions derived from the experience of movement and time, rather than abstracted representations of specific events or places.
