A collection of colourful etchings produced over recent years, inspired by visits to Venice. Reflecting the unique mixture of a 1000 –year merchant empire , with its various architectural styles, its Palazzo’s with their decorative facades and array of textures and colours, combined with its canals. An artists paradise.
Brian Denyer-Baker ARCA ASGFA
Brian learnt the art of Etching at Brighton College of Art, and then as a graduate of the Royal College of Art, he has been printmaking (Etching) full time since 1990.
His traditional art training and draughtsmanship is the foundation upon which his work is based, and this is reflected in his etchings. Brian’s fascination with Venice and historic buildings , has been a subject matter that has occupied much of his recent work.
The Palazzo’s, and merchant houses, with their multitude of architectural styles, their various textures, patterns, the crumbling and decaying brickwork, and the influence of the water on the buildings. The reflective qualities of the water, and the atmospheric qualities of the light. This combination of elements , has proved to be an ideal subject for Brian’s continued experimentation, and development as a printmaker, producing Limited Edition Etchings.
