Chris Kelly:Landscapes and Flowers – Britain and Ireland, 2017-2019
30th April to 31st May 2019
Open evening Tuesday 30th April 7-9pm
This is a collection of my most recent work in oil, ink and pencil. I hope that the evocation of atmosphere and place finds some resonance with the viewer, and that you enjoy the pictures!
I am a largely self-taught artist, although I have been painting for many years and have always been deeply interested in the history and techniques of painting. I mainly work in oil, although I also use drawing ink and acrylic. I am inspired by the shapes and colours that I see in landscapes, and like to try to evoke atmosphere through my use of colour. I like the way that painting allows me to explore the borders between realism and abstraction, and try to convey this in the way I paint.
