John Burgess: Coast to Country

John Burgess features local landscapes and seascapes in oil on canvas in his exhibition in the New Gallery Space.
John enjoyed art at school but it was not until 33 years later that he put a paintbrush on canvas in 2009!
John at first experimented with several different mediums. The British Wildlife Centre, Sussex, commissioned John to produce pencil drawing of their native wildlife. However, he realised that oil was his preferred medium and this has been his main focus since.
He is a self-taught artist and likes to paint in a traditional style, taking inspiration from the works of Constable and Turner.
John undertakes commissions.
