KAB Portrait Exhibition
22nd July to 23rd August 2014
Open eve Wed 23rd July 5pm -7pm
Kent Association for the Blind (KAB) is a registered charity supporting sight impaired people to live independent lives in Kent, Medway and Bromley. Together with photographer Rebecca Andrews, KAB has put together a portrait exhibition featuring local people who are representative of the thousands of clients KAB supports; people of all ages, from a variety of backgrounds and with different experiences of sight loss. The aim of this exhibition is to challenge people’s preconceptions about what it means to live with sight loss.
The series of black and white portraits depict KAB service users who have varying degrees of vision. They are photographed with an item of significant personal importance which relates to their individual experience of what it means to be sight impaired.
We really want to increase the peoples’ awareness of what living with sight loss means and how our organisation helps local people to live independently without sight impairment being a barrier.
