Adventures in Art by Annie McNicoll
9th May to 15th June 2018
Open evening 14th May 7-9pm
Art has always been both a passion and an adventure for me. I try never to be too prescriptive when I begin a picture and am excited by the journey the medium and I take together. Texture, shape and colour however, are always the motivators for me to create.
As a multi medium artist, I love to play with any medium I can get my hands on, from paints and inks to pastels and oils, most recently being excited by encaustics which is hot beeswax and resin.
As texture is an intrinsic element of my work, I will often use papers, sand, marble dust, coffee grounds and straw amongst others to create the desired effect.
Landscapes and seascapes feature most prominently in my works and these are inspired mainly by the beauty of my native Scotland.
Other than the process of creating a piece of art, my greatest joy comes from others, when a picture speaks to them or touches them in some way. I hope you enjoy the exhibition.
