Winner of 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, this drama of political corruption and individual heroism is often regarded as one of the greatest films ever. The film, set in the docks of New Jersey, is based on true events. Johnny Friendly, the union boss, has strong connections with the mob and is responsible for many murders, but the dockworkers keep silent for fear of ending up victims themselves. Terry Malloy, one of the dockworkers, was a promising boxer until he was persuaded, at the instigation of Friendly, to deliberately lose a boxing fight so that Friendly could make money from the rigged result. One of the dockworkers to whom Terry is close decides to be a police witness against Friendly, but he is murdered in revenge as is Terry’s brother. This powerful film, with strong performances from Marlon Brando and Rod Steiger, shocked audiences when it was first shown because it laid bare the violence, corruption and racketeering in some American unions.

Reflections is a collection of my recent art work involving glass. My work reflects the ideas and images we see around us. Light plays upon glass in a unique way, never inert, constantly changing, enabling the viewer to see the piece differently at various times of the day. I invite the viewer to take look at what inspires me and read those images in a new and exciting way.
