Steve Sargeant: The World Beneath

An exhibition of abstract art at the Ripley Arts Centre Bromley. The theme of this exhibition uses scrape back techniques to reveal forms and shapes below the surface, thus inviting the viewer to use their imagination in searching for those hidden forms.

Spectacles showcases my ongoing attempt to uncover the surreal within the real. Photographing subjects that suggest an alternate narrative or existence, I use that as a vehicle for imagination, using an unpredictable painting process to transform the image and re-discover it.
