DAVID LEWIS ARPS: Kent, Garden of England
14th August to 14th September 2018
Open evening 14th August 7-9pm
‘Kent, Garden of England’, is an exhibition of garden landscape photography by David Lewis ARPS. Kent has been described as the Garden of England. For this exhibition, David’s seventh but his first in Bromley, David is showing some of his work from an ongoing project to photograph Kent’s major public gardens.
I moved to Orpington from North London four years ago and in that time, have visited and photographed many of Kent’s delightful public gardens. The project is ongoing and eventually I hope to produce a photobook of the work.
I’m a keen amateur photographer with a wide range of photographic interests and photography has been an interest most of my life. My previous solo exhibitions, all in North London, covered a diverse range of traditional and contemporary subjects. This exhibition sees the return to a more traditional subject, inspired by the memory of my Late mother, a successful botanical artist who encouraged me to exhibit my work. I’ve also contributed to several group exhibitions including the Royal Photographic Society South-East London Group, the Central London-based Viewfinders group and Bromley Camera Club. I’m an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), gaining my ARPS Distinction in contemporary photography in 2009.

This exhibition is dedicated to the hard work of the women and men who have created and maintain these beautiful gardens.
