Keith Burtonshaw (1930 – 2008) U.A., N.S., BWS
A Retrospective Exhibition
2nd June to 26th June 2009
Keith was a traditional and skilled artist who worked mainly in oils and watercolours. His subject matters included marine and landscape, animals and steam engines. Examples of all of these will be exhibited in this show.
Keith had an un erring eye for fine composition and colour, his final results conveyed beauty and skill to the eye of the viewer. His art sales were numerous and his Thames River Barge pictures were in constant demand. Although Keith was technically an amateur his output and sales were likened to that of a professional artist. His demonstrations attracted great numbers and he went out of his way to advise and help other artists in a positive manner without ever denigrating poor work. His death shocked all who knew him but his works will live on for a long time to come and serve as a poignant reminder of his skill and dedication to the craft he loved.
