Roger Lewis is proud to exhibit paintings and drawings produced by many of his students over the past year or so in his established art tuition sessions at Ripley alongside some of his own work as well. The exhibition reveals an exciting mix of many styles and media including portraiture, landscape and animal subjects.
Roger Lewis’s art tuition for adults at Ripley has been in existence since 2001 with some students attending for several years. Now semi retired, after a continuous career as a commercial artist and as a recent past President of the Society of Graphic Fine Art [ SGFA – the drawing society ] Roger feels that the high quality of work produced by his students during the sessions at Ripley warrants further viewing by the public and this exhibition hopefully does that and Roger is proud to incorporate some of his own works as well.
Beginners and more advanced artists joining the group sessions, with Tutor guidance, select their way forward whether pursuing oil techniques, acrylics, watercolour, pastels, pen and ink, colour pencils, scraperboard or any other medium. As art requires much solo concentration it can be a somewhat inhibiting existence. At Ripley, being in the company of like – minded people, artists feel relaxed and gain confidence to try other mediums, practice new techniques and subject matter as they progress, with personal direction, at their own pace discovering the immense pleasure art can bring to their lives.
