Gail Chalk: Watercolours – an exhibition of water based media
19th September to 3rd November 2017
Open evening Tuesday 26th September 7-9pm

I love the way watercolour works and the luminous effect you can get. I often add other elements, such as texture mediums, collage and salt and seeing how this changes things. I also love to add a decorative element to my paintings, especially when using inks. I use my sketchbooks and watercolour studies as reference material and inspiration for my work. I constantly sketch and paint in my garden, and always take sketchbooks with me when out and about.

Biography
I studied textiles and fine art at Camberwell School of Art and City and Guilds Arts School. I have also studied printmaking at Bromley Adult

Education College (BAEC) and have studied life painting and drawing on and off for many years.

I have been teaching Art Classes for the last 20 years and currently have classes running at the Ripley Arts Centre, Downe Village and in Penge for BAEC. The main media I teach are Watercolour, Pastels and Inks.

My recent Exhibitions have been at the Lovely Gallery in Sydenham and I exhibit annually at the Horniman Museum. I have also had work accepted at Bankside Gallery with the Royal Watercolour Society Open Exhibition and at Dulwich Picture Gallery with Friends of Dulwich Gallery.
