Irene Grant: ‘From me to you”
28th August to 20th September 2013
Open eve 28th August 7-9pm
A colourful display of figurative paintings from the artist’s studio in Spain as well as here in the UK. This is an intimate look at ordinary things, concentrating on colour, light and relative placement. Pleasing to the eye and generating a feeling of tranquillity.
Born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, my artistic education in painting and graphic design started at Gray’s school of art in Aberdeen, and continued at The London College of Printing and the Slade School of Art in London.
I am a figurative painter, my main subject matter is still life. Arrangements of objects which inspire a feeling of calm and show my interest in spatial relationships and light. I often use my photographs as a source for paintings, as I prefer to work in the studio. My subject matter is varied and wide ranging. picked from my travels abroad or walks around my home. The vibrant colour of Andalucia suffuses the work I do in my studio in Spain. I divide my time now between Spain and the UK.
