Drawing and painting have always been a very important part of my life. On retirement I took up etching and have been able to devote much more time to my art. I take inspiration from a variety of subjects including landscapes , seascapes in fact anything which ‘catches my eye’

Drawing and painting have always been an important part of my life. Having had a career in the Medical Profession as a Radiographer it meant artistic opportunities were somewhat limited. Having now retired from the N.H.S. I am able to devote much more time to my art.

I took up etching after retirement studying with Anthony Farrell

I became an Associate Member of the Armed Forces Art Society in 2008 and elected a full member in 2011. I received Highly Commended Awards for etchings in 2009, 2011 and 2012 while exhibiting and selling with the AFAS at the Mall Galleries. I have also exhibited and sold with the Royal Society of marine Artists.

I am a member of the Cantium Group of Artists, Chislehurst Artists and West Wickham Art Association.

For several years I helped with then ran an Art Group for the disabled with another artist, which sadly recently folded for lack of a suitable venue and funds.

I have received commissions from Tate and Lyle, University Hospital Lewisham, Bromley Bowling Club and various other private commissions. My work is in Private Collections in Australia, Japan, United States, Canada, Cyprus, Greece and France. I used to have work in the Turtle Gallery in Rye until they closed.

I work in oils, watercolour, pen and ink as well as etching. jen.kirby@ntlworld.com
