“Wildlife’s Miracles”
I first became interested in photography when I went to Venice with my parents in 1961.   But as time went on (78 large albums later!) and I moved from country to country, I saw aspects which inspired me passionately: namely animals in their own habitat and the immense privilege of being near them.    My inspiration came from my brother, Leo, who took cine films and won national awards, but I found still photography more satisfying.
My previous exhibitions were in Nairobi, Kenya, where I exhibited photographs of Venice, our cats,  portraits of our children when young and some wildlife.    Demand outstripped supply as I could not then access the negatives of my Venice pictures.   Even the italian Ambassador there wanted to purchase some!
Visiting Italy each year when young opened my eyes to the wonder of its history and the beauty of its countryside….so there began my first photo album of black and white photos.    The photos in albums cover the different countries I have lived in and are all accompanied by descriptions, history or background and, of course, dates.    I have also written travelogues of all the places I have visited over the years and again with relevant historical information (my husband says we need a bigger house to store all these….)
My life from childhood to now being a grandmother has been one of travelling and living abroad – in South America, the Mediterranean and Africa.    Our daughters, Francesca and Luisa, now mothers themselves, were “dragged” (my mother’s words, not mine) all around the world with us and had the broadest of education possible meeting people of all races, religions, colour, culture and accepting everything.    Most of our time was spent in what was called Third World Countries and of course this gave me another perspective for my love of photography, filling more albums.    The privilege of going on safari in our own car, sitting quietly and observing the animals’ behaviour is the most exciting and awesome experience which words cannot adequately describe.    Seeing the birth of a zebra, fortunately when our daughters were with us, was a particular highlight.
