26th March to 19th April 2012
Open eve 26th March 7-9pm
Lines of washing, people queuing, a custard cream – just some of the things Lis Watkins has drawn since beginning her online sketchbook in September 2011. This exhibition contains paintings and prints inspired by her daily drawings and ideas.

I studied art at Brighton and Kingston before working as an illustrator for a number of years, mainly in publishing. In recent years, family life has been the main focus, although I have exhibited watercolours locally in solo and group shows, including a previous show at Ripley, ‘Urban Landscapes’ in 2008.
It was after meeting up with some old art college friends last summer that I decided to take the plunge and start the blog, lineandwash. The aim was to post a drawing or idea from my sketchbook every day for a year because I felt I needed to get back to some ‘real’ drawing.
A lot of my drawings are made on location and I’m a member of the online group ‘Urban Sketchers’ (www.urbansketchers.org)
