Urban Landscapes
30th September to 24th October 2008
Open eve 30th September 7-9pm
Since graduating in Graphic Design from Kingston Polytechnic in 1986, I worked for over 12 years as a freelance illustrator. In recent years I have worked on private commissions and my own personal work.
In the last 12 months I have been inspired to paint people and buildings in Penge and the surrounding area. The High Street, as in many towns, is a place of change and already one of the shops I painted – Kennedy’s – has closed down.
Lis’s background in illustration and Graphic Design provide the basis for her realism. In this display Lis shows how her inspiration to capture people, buildings and towns in paint, often turns into social history as shops ‘disappear’ and changes take place.
