Martin Pinder – RETAIL ARTEFACTS
26th August to 23rd September 2011
p/view 1st September 7-9pm
An exhibition featuring subjects inspired by merchandise found in the shops and markets of Kent. This collection of oil paintings is executed in a “relentlessly realistic” style and emphasizes the fascinating and quirky nature of sometimes mundane subjects when presented against plain, contrasting backgrounds.
Martin started painting at the age of 10 and a brief attendance at Camberrwell was followed by a career in the art and graphics industry which, with a break as a professional musician, took care of the next 40 years.
As a resident of Biggin Hill, inspiration for landscape, street scenes and still life subjects comes from the local area but a passion for France has produced its own set of images.
Works in oil, acrylic, watercolour have been sold into private collections in UK, France, Spain, and Thailand while last year saw the inclusion of an oil painting in the RA Summer Exhibition.
The current collection or some 250 pictures is available for sale as originals or limited edition prints and may be viewed on a cd available free on request.
