In this exhibition, I am showing paintings of flowers and semi-abstract gardens. In my semi-abstract work I juxtapose colours and shapes, leaving it to the viewer to engage with my work. In my paintings I create tension between various elements – colour, shapes, and symbols – fusing painting styles from differing periods.

The conceptual base for my work is an understanding of the process of perception.  I aim to confront and challenge the viewer’s perception and through this process give them aesthetic pleasure.

On retirement in 2003 I took up painting full time, a lifelong passion. I obtained my Degree in Painting from Camberwell College of Arts in 2007. Since then I have been Artist in Resident in Swanley College for two years. I have conducted art sessions in Avanti Care Homes in Hextable and Snodland as a volunteer and now in Sevenoaks Mind where I am also Artist in Residence.  I have donated my paintings to Maidstone Hospital, Avanti Care Homes and my doctor’s surgery.

I have taken part in several group exhibitions in London and Kent. I have exhibited in various group shows in West London galleries including the Birla Millennium Art Gallery, Institute of Indian Art and Culture. Recently, I exhibited in a two man show at The Gallery, St. Julian’s Club, Sevenoaks. Sales of paintings from this exhibition will go towards Sevenoaks Mind charity.
